Why is protector important?

You know the price of carpet is expensive. I'm getting some installed in a few days and it is costing me over $1,500 for 45 square yards. That is not small change to me so I want to make sure it lasts. Besides annual cleanings, I will also make sure I re-apply protector after every cleaning. Notice, I said, RE-APPLY. Yes, all new carpet ( OK, almost all ) is applied with a protectant at the factory, and although it is great, is does wear out over time. The constant cycle of dirt, foot traffic, spills, mud, and even vacuuming slowly take is toll on the factory appied stain protector. By re-applying a quality protector, you protect your carpets from most liquids, allowing spills to be cleaned up before it is absorbed into the carpet fibers and perhaps causing a stain. Protectant can be applied to any type of carpet or upholstery and will form a molecular shield around each carpet fiber. This shield increases the surface tension of the carpet fibers protecting them from spills, stains, dirt, dust, sand, and grit. This is why to keep your carpet looking its best, I always recommend re-appling an enviromentally friendly protector such as Scotchgard or Dupont Teflon brand.
